A fact, as in, I know that her role moved to Edelgard because I confirmed it myself. [He rubs the back of his neck.] Izuminokami's role moved, too, and I located that one. The one I'm missing now is the last Booty Caller, and I have a feeling they might've bit the dust as of yesterday. Based on process of elimination.
[...he tilts his head.] Unless you really are the last one and I haven't been asking the right questions. It was between you and two other people.
Sure would be. [A long sip from the bottle.] Means either you lied to Haymitch, or Haymitch lied to us after I was so generous to tell him everything, and that he later told you.
[...hm.] Ever hear of a thing called a Bayesian game? It's a game where all of the players have incomplete information about the other players involved. This whole thing feels a lot like that.
So. Let me ask you something. Do we need to play twenty questions right now?
Oh, let's get a couple of things clear: I haven't lied to anyone on this ship, not once, and Haymitch didn't lie for me. I suggest you let that one marinate.
You're the Booty Caller, working with Nathan, as inherited by Muzet who was killed by a demon this week, which was Maou. You probably received the role sometime Monday afternoon because that's when Izuminokami's transferred as well.
[...he just laughs in relief because goddamn this insane search.]
Weird. The numbers I saw said there were two of you, and given me and Haymitch I assumed you would be working with Nikkari. Hope you don't mind if I tell him about you anyway. Just so we're all in the same loop.
Tuesday's when you had your meeting with Nathan, I take it. So you can really talk to the other side, too? Same deal, just a limited amount of time.
[Regarding Maou though...he takes another sip.] Nikkari told me about what they found in the ballroom and process of elimination led me to Maou. And after what happened with Dimitri and how he was killed, and some stuff I asked Polly about, that's sort of what I figured out. We did miss one last week, didn't we?
Tell whoever. In fact, I checked with Nathan—we don't gain anything by playing coy with info. The demon doesn't give two shits about who has what role, it's just out for blood. We ought to be sharing this shit freely if we want to beat this thing.
[But to his question about her role, she nods.]
I imagine it's the same deal. I talked to Escha this week.
[...]
Well, "talked". She couldn't talk, so we had to play charades... It's a role with limited productivity, just like all the others.
That would've made my role in all of this a lot easier if they'd been upfront about that from the start. [He rolls his eyes.] Now that we know twelve out of the thirteen, I'm thinking we might need a meeting just so everybody's on the same page. Get everyone caught up to speed on what needs to happen and make sure everyone knows who they might be able to work with or coordinate with. Maybe I'm crazy, I don't know.
[...Escha's name gets a soft, kind of bummed look though but.] ...she's still okay, right?
Yeah. In games like these trust is one of those really fleeting things. [Since she's doing that, he'll just play with the ends of her hair. It's fine.] But I'll take it. Shiraishi told me about a message he heard when he broke into a room with Hizamaru. "Mistrust and deceit are your enemy, you're running out of time, and we are thriving." Real cheerful.
[There's a shrug though.] Another party might be what we need, but just a little more lowkey. Or we feed everybody after the trial in the conference room that's set up and go from there. Gathering that many people myself might be a problem, so...I could use the help. Let's see how tomorrow goes.
[At least at the news about the dead he perks up a bit.] They're supposedly on an island and that's what we're circling around, so...I'd be having a good time if I was on the beach, too. I try to keep in touch with Carlos to check on stuff but...y'know. They're busy. She say anything important?

Now wouldn't that be something?

[She says it pointedly.]
Yeah, we sure do. Fire away, super chief.

[He's...tired though so he walks over to the loveseat and sits on the arm of it, gesturing for her to sit as well.]
We'll start with the easy ones, yes or no only for now. [He swirls the bottle a little for his own amusement.] You're working with Nathan?
no subject
No, I'm saying think about it. Haymitch didn't know until a couple days ago. I did tell him I didn't have a role when he told me about his, though.
[She gives him a look.]
Yeah, I am.

....you got Muzet's role, didn't you. [Holy shit wait a second.]

You and your partner have two separate role names. The Booty Caller, and something else?
no subject
You've already figured it out. Just say it so we both know you know, and then I'll explain.

[She raises her glass in salute.]
Got it on Tuesday, actually. I know Nikkari can do the same shit as me, but we don't work together. I don't have a partner.
[...]
How do you know what happened with Maou?

Mm. I suppose that tracks. Unfortunate.

Don't blame them. You know they got roped into this same as the rest of us. Nathan seemed surprised trusting each other was even up for debate.
[She sips at her beer and leans to rest her head against his arm.]
Getting everyone on the same page. I like the sound of that. Need any help with that?
[And then she lets out a soft laugh.]
Escha's just fine. She looked good. Everyone else is okay, too. I get the impression the afterlife's treating them real well.
